Michael Arthur

Michael Arthur is a researcher, author, and educator whose work has redefined how we understand modern careers. He co-developed the Intelligent Careers Framework, a model that connects personal meaning, relationships, and expertise to lifelong employability. Michael has helped organizations and coaches worldwide apply this framework to real-world development and career transitions. His groundbreaking book with Denise Rousseau The Boundaryless Career (Oxford University Press, 1996) reshaped thinking on career mobility and work identity.

As co-author of An Intelligent Career: Taking Ownership of Your Work and Your Life (Oxford University Press, 2017), he continues to translate theory into practice, providing practical tools and insights for career professionals. Michael is Emeritus Professor at Suffolk University, Boston, and Visiting Professor at Cranfield University, UK, where he continues to guide research and coaching initiatives focused on career ownership, purpose, and adaptability in an evolving world of work.
